DIMITAR BONCHEV

Dimitar Bonchev
/// about
My name is Dimitar Bonchev, and I have long maintained a strong interest in photography and the visual arts. I studied Photography at New Bulgarian University, where my engagement with artistic practice developed in depth. I subsequently had the opportunity to participate in Photoconcept, an innovative platform dedicated to contemporary photography in Sofia, Bulgaria. I currently work in the game industry as a VFX and lighting artist, a field in which I continue to be strongly influenced by photographic imagery.
I have always been drawn to human-altered landscapes and open spaces. I find it compelling to observe how human transformations reshape the environment to serve societal needs. We are living in a pivotal moment in history, one in which human impact on the Earth’s environment has never been more profound. This reality makes it essential for each of us to remain aware of, and responsive to, the traces of the future embedded in the present.
Alongside my interest in landscape-oriented work, I am drawn to street photography for its candid and unpredictable character. I am particularly compelled by fleeting moments—unplanned encounters, subtle gestures, and transient interactions—that quietly reveal the rhythm and emotional undercurrents of everyday urban life
